Well, it looks like Sony didn't take long to get Media Molecule working on LittleBigPlanet 2, especially as the devs had said just a few months back it was entirely possible there would be no sequel on PS3 (http://www.mature-gamers.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2863#post2863).

However, I don't think this is a bad thing - Media Molecule have done a great job with backing up the initial release with plenty of patches and support, as well as throwing plenty of DLC at customers, and there's going to be a point somewhere down the line where the game has been pushed as far as it can by players and mappers and it's time for something new.

Media Molecule have stated that they'll try and make as many of the levels as they can backwards-compatible, but that it's possible that may not be achievable for every single level, as some authors have used tricks within the game engine to achieve certain results, and these tricks are unlikely to be carried across to the sequel.

All in all, I'm quite looking forward to this, and the only thing now will be trying to hide this game's existence from my six-year-old daughter, who will be going absolutely spare if she finds out there's another LBP on the way.
