Recently I finished Heavy Rain and loved the game.
So time to get something new. I find it hard standing in the games store trying to figure out what is good and what sucks.
I don't have a problem with violence or gore in games.. but I don't like games that sole purpose is shoot things up over and over again.. which is why I liked Heavy Rain so much.
So anyone got any suggestions for me?
Two other questions..
Does it matter if you are play the 2nd or 3rd version of a game if you haven't played the first. Seems like a stupid question.. but hey nothing worse then starting something and the story makes no sense.
Infamous was a game that got my attention at the store today.. anyone played it? Is it any good?
Cheers

Infamous is quite a good game if you enjoy the Grand Theft Auto 'sandbox' style games where you're free to wander as you please in between missions and wreak havoc. The reviews were generally very positive, and when I rented it, I certainly enjoyed the experience of having superpowers at my fingertips. :D
As for playing the second and/or third games in a series without playing the first, it really all depends on the series. Something like the Metal Gear Solid games for example, you'd be able to experience and enjoy the fourth game without having played the previous ones, but there would also be a few moments where you'd be a little lost. On the other hand, something like the Grand Theft Auto series traditionally has very little connecting one game to another plot-wise.
Finally, for recommendations, if you're a fan of Tomb Raider-style exploration and gunplay with a couple of puzzles mixed in on the side, I can very highly recommend the Uncharted games (Drakes Fortune & Among Thieves). The most recent Batman game, Arkham Asylum is a real treat as well if you enjoy the genre - one of the best games of 2009 without a doubt.
If you're a fan of RPGs (or even curious about them), I can recommend either The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (don't worry, the prequels are unrelated to number IV) or Dragon Age: Origins.
Finally, it's a brand new release, but if you're a fan of the GTA style of gameplay, Red Dead Redemption is out today, and it looks like being an absolute gem of a game.
Aside from Heavy Rain, what other games do you usually enjoy?

Er, silly question probably, but is this just PS3 games?
/Edit: oh. Yes. It's in the PS3 section. Damn the New Posts function not telling me that in massive red letters.

Usually play.. ha! Not much matey. I rock at Katamari. I rocked at Heavy Rain.. um besides that I haven't played much. I did play tomb raider many many years ago. Did well, then got to a level that with even the cheats I couldn't get past. I like the idea of a game that I can use my head, plus get some stress release.
A friend just got Red Dead today (on xbox) so I will be keen to here his thoughts.
Arkam Asylum sounds interesting I will look into that. Well I like the name anyhow..hehe
What is the Transformers game like and the Star Wars Battlefront game. I like the idea of them as I like the films. I just can't see me playing batman.. really batman. Is it that good of a game. I guess I still have Batman cartoons (and the lego batman game) in my head. I do like the new darker bat man.
I am starting to ramble.. thanks for your reply Jason.

Myname.. you made me laugh. As much as the kids would love another games console we only have the one.
Can I ask what you were going to suggest? Just out of interest.

I was thinking the Half-Life 2 saga for PC -- good plot that gets better the deeper you look, puzzles and not overly shoot-y. And you don't need to have played the first one to know what's going on.
The older Splinter Cell games might tickle your fancy as well. Not much shooting if you're doing it right, more a matter of patience, observation and stealth -- the new SC is decidedly more shooty, but still quite marvellous.
Oh, and, please, it's MNDF :)

Battlefront was one of my favs for Ps2, I played it all the time. It's not that deep, but it's fun.
Red Dead is definitely a blast, I got it earlier this week and have not been disappointed.
I loved Heavy Rain so much, great game.
Infamous is a blast, prototype on xbox is better in my opinion even though NO one agrees with me. But it's as close as you are going to get.
