So with the inaugural Mature Gamer's game of NP starting to wrap up now (give it a week or so) now's a good time to start looking at interest for a new game.
The game is free for anyone to join - since I'm paid up for another 3 games I'll use my credits again unless someone else wants to pay.
Either way, free to join - it's great fun with 5 people, but this time let's try for a few more (you can have up to 12 people per game)
If you're interested, sign up here - if you know anyone that might like to join then get them to sign up here and join the new wave of destruction (and this time, with MORE blood!)

Really, it was only four this time around. Being that Rob buggered off near the start ;)
Either way: I'm in.
Also, Konnie was talking to me about having spoken to one of you lot about a few ideas as to making the game completely anonymous... sounded intriguing.

Not me
But actually that sounds like a good idea - I'd be in for that

It was TP I talked to. The ideas we threw forth were that the next game is anonymous, meaning we all pick names that are completely and utterly vague and unrecognizable and not mention who we are throughout the game. And that in addition to this, to discourage cheating for the sake of ease of communication we also create special IM accounts (like MSN) to communicate outside of game. MNDF shot that idea down as making it too easy to give us away due to timezones, but I'm not completely given up on it.
Other than that: implement a symmetrical map design so that nobody gets stuck in the middle or with crappy planets. The idea to change the speed of the game - was also thrown out a few times, though frankly once the slow early game got off the ground I thought it was just fine.
If possible, maybe you could share with us every option you get to modify when you create a new game - and maybe we can adjust something that hadn't occurred to us before.
And of course, I'm in. In about two weeks ill be leaving the country and my computer time will be cut down considerably - but I will hopefully make the time to check the game every day or so.

There's no way to make a symmetrical map on custom settings (only the pre-made, and then you can't change the settings - plus the pre-made 12 player symmetrical map looks crap)
Game Setup Options:
Total Players:
3 to 12
Speed:
1 pay/48 hours
1 pay/24 hours
2 pays/24 hours
4 pays/24 hours
Alliances:
Enabled or Disabled
Stars Per Player:
8, 16, 24, 32
Home Star Distance:
1ly, 1.5ly, 2ly
Natural Resources:
Sparse, Standard, Plentiful, Maximum
Starting Systems:
1, 2, 4, 6, 10
Starting Industry:
Economy - 0, 10, 15, 20
Industry - 0, 10, 15, 20
Science - 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Development Cost:
Cheap, Standard, Expensive (choose for each - economy, industry and science)
Starting Cash:
100, 250, 500, 1000
Starting Ships:
10, 20, 30, 40, 50
Starting Technology:
1 to 5 for each technology type
Research Cost:
None, Cheap, Standard, Expensive for each technology type

Ah, right. Alliances. Corey was asking for alliances based on trust only, so that's something to consider. And maybe more starting money? Granted, I wasted a bunch on war and alliances before I knew what was going on - but perhaps that's one way to speed up the first few rounds of the game?

The newbie's down for playin' a game. Which is to say; I am.
MSN accounts would give us away, I reckon, if we're going for anonymity. Our typing styles and language and so on is pretty easy to pick up on, and as Corey said, timezones give it away even more.
So yeah, that's my two cents.

Consider me in for this one. I'm considering throwing in a prize for the winner as well, just to make things interesting.

That would mean we'd actually need to, uh, well, finish it.

Yeah
MNDF and I are the only ones that weren't AI controlled -.-
And I died

Konnie has come back. But I'm just gonna let him kill me so it can be done with (any defence would be futile in the end anyway).

Well, it's time to start planning the new game now that Konnie is victorious.
What settings does everyone think we should go for?
And are we going with random names so we don't know who's who? For the most part anyways. We would all need to agree not to reveal our identities for the length of the game to anyone else.

No identities. No (exterior) communication. No solid alliances.
Jason

Yeah, I like this idea.
And the 'no striking the final blow' thing? You have to leave someone with at least one star system, otherwise they spend several weeks twiddling their thumbs waiting for stuff to happen.
Lance
06-02-2010, 02:45 PM
Yeah, agreed <.< >.> *stops twiddling thumbs*
As far as settings, do we all still like 1 pay/24 hours? And do we want to change starting tech/resources or anything?

Konnie, Jason, Brett, Sam and I.
That's five people we have right now. Anyone else up for this game? BECAUSE I WANT IT TO START.
What about xander? JBO? Anne? Serio? Steph? Any of you guys and gals up for a good bit of casual galactic decimation?
