Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the BEST GAME EVER...

It's averaged a fairly spectacular 98 out of 100 over 47 reviews - that's some pretty good scoring, when you look at it.

I'm yet to play it, but with my brother having owned the first one, and his also having recently re-purchased a Wii, I'll probably get a chance to at some point. I enjoyed the first one in short bursts, but it never really held my attention for any long period of time.

Personally, last Mario game I played was Super Mario 3 - along with 1, 2 and Lost Levels. Nothing will ever be as good as that group in the Marioverse.

I have nothing against the Mario platformers as such - I do agree that as far as straight platformers go, you simply cannot beat a Mario game. Sonic was up there for a while, but never made the transition to 3D well.

Unfortunately, I think that gamers have come to be spoiled by the industry's constant search for innovation - no longer is it enough to just get from one end of a level to another and repeat 20-ish times - there are gamers out there who have done that a hundred times or more, each time with a different set of sprites, but the same core mechanics.

I do respect Nintendo for having the balls and common sense to keep Mario what he is and what he always has been - a bastion of light-hearted fun in an industry that occasionally takes itself far too seriously, and I think any game - particularly a triple A title that will be a huge title for your platform - that reminds us that gaming isn't all brown filters and gory deaths should be applauded. Is it a 98/100 game? Probably not, but hype is a dangerous thing when reviewing games - see mine and MNDF's God of War argument/discussion for that particular debate. :p

The last one was pretty fun but I had to take dramamine to play it for all the motion sickness it gave me. The latest side scroller for WIi was hard as hell, but I've never been all that good at mario.

I thought it was just me that found New Super Mario Brothers Wii really hard... I thought I was just losing my platforming skills in my old age!

It was easier if you played single player, but my friend was obsessed with us being able to beat it as a team. Meanwhile is the absolute WORST co op gamer in the world, sooo... that made it more difficult to be sure!
