We knew it was coming (http://www.mature-gamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10166), but now that the iPhone 4G has been announced, with its full specs and features available at Apple's site (http://www.apple.com) I'm sitting here thinking to myself something along the lines of "and I jizzed in my pants".

Now, take that to mean some serious stuff folks. Usually I look at Apple stuff and go 'pretty, but shit'. This... this I went 'pretty, but OH JESUS THAT IS AWESOME'.

Let me just run over a quick few of the specs that caught my immediate attention and sent all the blood rushing to the nerd centres of my brain:

960x640 Display Resolution.
HD Video Recorder, Editor and Player.
Application Multitasking and Background Apps.
5MP Camera w/Flash (& the pretty nifty inclusion of a manual focus by tapping any area of the camera view).
Three Axis Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Ambient Light and Proximity Sensors.
Extensive Audio/Video Compatibility.

... and it actually looks really, really nice. Seriously. I sound like an Apple fanboy and it's burning me up inside. I haven't had so much internal turmoil since I had to choose between a shotgun and a sniper rifle in AVP.

TL;DR: iPhone 4G looks amazing and now I'm just waiting to see which organ I'll have to sell when they announce the price on the 15th.

Eh.

Nice, and I'd take one if it was offered to me, but I'm not paying £400+ for one. I have an ipod, and I have a camera. My existing phone also manages both of these tasks to a greater or lesser extent. Most of the apps are convenient, if a little redundant assuming you've heard of the internet.

It's fantastic as a James Bond-esque gadget, but for those of us without MI5-sized budgets, it's a little excessive.

Still, as you said - DO WANT.

To be honest, that's about what my opinion has been of everything Apple to date. But this is actually something I'd see myself using all the features of -- HD video recording and editing is damned handy, decent camera, awesome portable media capabilities, the organisational features and, surprisingly*, it's a phone.

*actually a surprise, what with the iPad and all.

Yeah, I guess if you're going to use it all, it's not all bad - doing the maths, a decent HD video camera is going to set you back about £200 on its own, not to mention the other bits and pieces that come with it.

I don't actually have anything against Apple products as such (other than iTunes, which is the software equivalent of Hitler raping a Snow Leopard in a chapel on Christmas Eve) - I actually quite like most of them (apart from the iPad), my beef is with the Apple drones who simply rush out to buy the same product slightly rebranded for £300 a time (see iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad) and claim it's the best thing since Jesus invented sliced bread.
I also dislike Apple's smug and superior advertising image (and the idiots that reflect this image in conversation).

tldr; I like the product, hate the people. :p
