Now, some of you might remember that way back in MGPBQGT #2 (http://www.mature-gamers.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3769&postcount=3) I said the following on the topic of moving a game like Sniper Elite to the modern theatre:
If there's one thing I want in the gaming world right now, it's a good dedicated sniper title.
So, jump left and fast-forward to now where I am sitting here, staring disbelievingly at exactly what I was pining for not so long ago: a dedicated modern sniper game, complete with stealth, realistic sniping and all the high calibre goodness that sniper rifles bring to the world... what am I looking at? I'm looking at Sniper: Ghost Warrior (http://www.sniperghostwarrior.com/).

Now, ladies and gentlemen, as I am Australian we can all immediately assume that I am, of course, a Sniper. So, naturally, I am incredibly excited about this game. There is, however, one thing niggling at my mind: the game is being developed by City Interactive who have made a good handful of FPS games previously... but, well, I'd never heard of them until now and that tells me that their games weren't entirely brilliant.

But that's OK, because the recently released trailer detailing the basics of the sniping and stealth mechanics seems to point towards this game winding up as something that should be remarkable fun.

This baby is slated to hit the PC and 360 sometime this year.

So, any other snipers keeping a keen eye trained on this one?

I seem to remember EDGE magazine doing a hands-on with this one a couple of issues back. I'll dig the magazine out and see what they had to say. It certainly looks interesting enough - there aren't enough good sniper games out there considering the demand.

Well, I wrote a post here, but then it went away 'cos my net decided to whore itself somewhere not at my PC just as I clicked "post quick reply".

But, the basic gist would be: I like sniping. It is fun. I am looking forward to this.

Demo?

Well it hits PC on the 25th of June and there's no demo yet so... I doubt it.

I have many times been frustrated by this occurance. If you're a Firefox user, this can occasionally be avoided by clicking the 'back' button to get to the page again, then right-clicking in the text box and clicking 'undo'. Doesn't work every time, but often enough to be worth knowing.

I've never played a sniper game before as I can't snipe or be stealthy to save myself.

But this looks really good, I might try it once I get the money.

Looks great! I'll definitely be getting this. Is there a date for a 360 release, or is it the same as on PC?
Even the voice acting in spanish sounded good... which is not something I can say for most games with dialogue in spanish.

I can't say on the release date. I got the PC one from Steam, the developer's website didn't have one.

Release date on 360 is apparently the 29th. It didn't mention which regions though.

Demo?

My random 1AM internet foray has resulted in a change of answer to this question to "YES".

They're Polish, apprently, so my guess is that's a European date. But I'm confident North America will get it soon... we always do. :)

Ack, I know those developers. They're one of those "flood the market with shitty low budget 20 PLN a pop games". Hopefully this is a rebirth for them...
