Now, I've seen it a couple times here, the suggestion of a remake of LoZ:OoT instead of a new Zelda title... well, this E3 Nintendo stepped it up from either of those... they announced both.

Alongside the showing of their new Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Nintendo pulled out the news (http://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/16268409393) that the classic Ocharina of Time is set to be remade, in 3D, for the 3DS. However, no price or release date has yet been set.

I'm curious. I must say.

As am I.

Ocarina of Time is by far the best of all the ones I've played, so, it could be pretty spiffy.

Can someone go fetch a rake or something to help peel Betty off the ceiling?

You spelled Ocarina wrong MyNameDidntFit! Come on man.

Anyway, I'm kinda looking forward to seeing the reviews of this game after it comes out. I think it could be a huge success for the 3DS if it works. If it doesn't, you'll have a LOT of pissed off retro gamers.

I'm considering buying the 3DS just for this. I'm one of the very few heretics who had a N64 and didn't have this game.

And I was one of the other ones! :p

Bumping this cause:

1. I hooked up my gamecube & played my zelda: collector's edition for a few hours... Cried a little bit...
2. Theres going to be a 3DS media showing thingamabob in january in NY where the press can go and try it out.
Apparently its still $300..... grr.
My love for N64 games is going to destroy me.

Once again bumping this cause there is a WUNDERFUL rumor going around that OoT may possibly be bundled with the 3DS (:
Apparently its a terrible idea for nintendo because OoT would sell just fine on its own (And it will, because I intend on buying it even if I dont HAVE a 3DS. Cause thats just how much of a zelda fangirl I am)
anyway.
The 3DS is out in Japan in February and out in the US & Europe in March (: \o/

I did not even know what a 3DS is until this topic prompted me to look it up. Heh. Looks like Nintendo already has another shiny new portable coming up.

I wish I got to see that Sky Temple in Ocarina of Time, but if memory serves it was really just an incomplete room in one version of the game.

They should add a Sky Temple.

Well, if it comes with the 3DS, all the more reason for me to get it right away! But from a business perspective, I too think they're making a mistake. As if the remake of the most awesome game ever wouldn't sell well.

To be honest i'm not quite sure if i should buy this if it does not come with the 3ds I love ocarina of time but I could get it off the vc for possibly half the price of well i'm sure ill make up my mind when the time comes.

Where have you been?

The game's portability I think is a big selling point, and the only reason I'd be interested. Also if they were to add any new features to it. I'm sure everyone already has it, and while every zelda fan will buy it, they will have to add something new to get people like me who have the game on Virtual Console, to be interested in buying it.

But that just may be the portability.

Zelda in math class. I can dig it. :naughty:

I'm buying a 3DS Just because I'm a huge fan of Nintendo's Handheld... but Oot made it a sealed deal, right off the shelf!

if they were to add any new features to it

That's a can of worms I'm not sure you, or they, would be wise to open...

I mean without effecting the core gameplay of the game, they could add certain things like minigames on the side or additional things to collect. Otherwise its the same game yet again... :/

Same can of worms, old buddy. When you change things in games with a fanbase as large and nostalgia-fueled as that of OoT you're messing with forces beyond that which even the gods dabble.

Or maybe I overestimate how fickle the gaming community can be... but I don't think I do.

Ha, I agree with you on the fickleness. And I see what you mean. I'm sure this will be a hit regardless.

I might get it anyway, just the idea of playing Zelda on the go is really attractive to me.

They'll probably slip in a new secret here and there, but I'd be very surprised if this wasn't a straight port from the N64 version.

With the obvious new spin, of course.

new puzzles? oh god. that would seriously throw me way off.
I know every single secret in oot...I really should write a walkthrough for the heck of it.
