Okay, so it's old news, but there's still plenty of discussion to be had about it. One of the Playstation's biggest and oldest franchises, Metal Gear Solid has made the move across to Sony's rival, the Xbox 360.
The latest in the series, which we are led to believe will NOT feature Solid Snake, isn't due until Q3 next year, but it's certainly going to be a big blow to the PS3, and a much-needed jab in the arm for the 360, which has suffered from a lack of big-name exclusives of late.

The game is also being released on PS3 and PC, and will have the player controlling Raiden, who (in)famously made his debut in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. It won't be using the same engine as Metal Gear Solid 4, the developers instead preferring to use an entirely new build. It certainly sounds promising, but it'll be interesting to see where the writers go with the plot now that such a key element has been removed from it.

It is coming to 360!? I was just thinking that I wished Metal Gear Solid was on Xbox and now it is. May be old news, but is new to me- thanks for sharing :)

I remember playing it back in the day on ps1 and I loved it.

Couldn't care less if it has the same gameplay, I'm not a fan of Metal Gear series.

I wonder if the developers are assuming that everyone played the previous Metal Gear games. I mean, would people who never played them before have a reason to get this one?

With new users it would really be just like with any other game, except this has name recognition, so it still has an advantage.

And most of the ps1 people probably did play gear at some time and since it was so popular I am sure many of them, myself included, are excited about this.

This is kind of a bummer because I usually buy Sony's console for Metal Gear and Final Fantasy games. Oh well I save money this way.

I have mixed feelings about MG moving away from Snake as the main character. He is one of the original bad asses of gaming. Raiden doesn't have that rough edge and he sounds like a pervert but he is pretty crazy with a sword and wears a sweet mask. Either way I trust that anything MG will rock. They have not had a bad game yet.

Released on PC, eh? Perhaps this will be my first opportunity to dive into the world of MG on something other than a crappy portable.

I think Raiden developed a lot as a character in MGS4 - he moved away from that irritating 'clean-cut hero with a dark past' cookie-cutter mould and started to become interesting and unique. With any luck that'll continue with Rising.

Your right about that.
