I'm no sucker for handheld gaming, but I stumbled across this whilst browsing earlier, and it made my jaw drop:

This is on Nintendo's new 3DS, and whilst it is a cutscene, it's apparently in the in-game engine, and it looks amazing. If this is an indication of the kind of quality game we can expect to see from the 3DS, I might have to break my handheld console duck.

Nice. I love the way he aims down the sight of his gun when he's 3" from her face. Leet.

THAT is a handheld game???

Shoot. Things have come a long way from my old brick sized, spinich colored screen Game Boy.

I don't really get handheld games anymore, since I'd rather play on a big screen than a tiny one, and I don't really have the desire to take gaming on the road anymore. But still, looks pretty cool.

It's amazing what you can do with your graphics when you only need a resolution of really small and tiny. And having your rendering scene = a dark room with three people, three guns, a chair and one light source. Makes things alot easier when there's barely anything to render. Their colour depth also seems a bit narrow, or perhaps that's just someone messing with the contrast to make it more 'dramatic'.

Either way, I'd wager that the actual game itself doesn't look that good, as it'll have far more worldspace that has to be rendered than just this cutscene. Still, yes, it does look nice. Considering the last handheld thing I had was the Gameboy SP, and the best looking thing on that was Golden Sun, we've come a long way in terms of technology. Still, they're cheating at least a little with this one to make it look better than it really is.

I would just like to point my finger at those little "flashbacks", equally appealing, far more conjoined.
