So I just got through watching Dylan Moran's latest offering and I was thinking - who is everyone's favorite stand-up comics?

-

My out-right favorites would have to be David Strassman and Dylan Moran. I've seen both of them live a couple of times and they're brilliant.

Bill Bailey (of Black Books fame with Dylan Moran), Danny Bhoy, Ricky Gervais and Dennis Leary deserve honorable mentions too.

And while he's not technically a stand-up comic, Kevin Smith's "An evening with Kevin Smith" was pretty good too.

Billy Connolly never fails to have me in stitches. Definitely my all-time favourite.

But I also like Dane Cook, Ricky Gervais, Frankie Boyle ... sure there are more ...

I very rarely watch stand-up comedy, but...
Polo Polo, Dane Cook, and Ricky Gervais.

I admit I discovered Ricky Gervais on GTA IV. :p

Also, really? No mention of George Carlin until now?

ROFL Lance!

My fave is Mitch Hedberg I'm pretty glad to say I got to see him live before he passed away.

Gah, I could go on about this for days.

Ross Noble is probably my current favourite touring stand-up, he's just amazingly free-wheeling and flowing - entire sets can revolve around something someone from the audience has given him. He's pretty unknown outside the UK and Australia, but he's we worth a look. Unrealtime or Randomist is probably his finest work, but the Aussies may appreciate Fizzy Logic, which was filmed during his latest tour of Oz.

Bill Bailey is a fantastic act, but having seen four of his shows on DVD now, it appears he's not quite as inspired as he once was. I really didn't rate Tinselworm much, especially in comparison to his earlier work like Bewilderness.

Emo Phillips is well worth a look. His on-stage persona is a little strange to say the least, but he's got a real knack for leading you in one direction and then taking you in a completely different one with the punchline.

I can't believe I forgot Mitch Hedberg. Whenever that guy's name comes up, I think of his joke about Big Foot actually being an out-of-focus monster.

I'm so hot for Emo right now! Going to see him again thursday and hopefully get another hug:D.
Eddie Izzard is probably my out and out fav - funny yet actually quite informative! Ross Noble in close 2nd! Enjoy the late great Richard Prior too, which reminds me, must watch more of Bill Hicks.

Can't believe you didn't mention Rich Hall Jason?

He's pretty unknown here too :p

Is he? Ah, that's quite a surprise, as it looks on the DVD like he's playing a pretty decent-sized arena, so I figured there must be quite a few that know of him.
