Ok, so I mentioned somewhere else that my brother-in-law grabbed me a dozen or so games that I wouldn't really go out and buy, but felt like playing to see if they're any good (he works in Cash Converters, a pawn like store) for $14AUD each, which is really cheap for good quality second hand games.
So the quick list of what I got is:
The Godfather, The Godfather II, Just Cause, F.E.A.R, F.E.A.R Files (the expansion), Far Cry, Far Cry 2, Prey, Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits, Prey, and Fracture.
So first on my list (while completing TheBigs2) was The Godfather.
I was pleasantly surprised actually. Its a 1940's GTAesque where you can get seriously addicted just going around extorting all the businesses before you even start the main missions.
The only flaw I've found really so far is the targeting system. Even with high shooting skills, it's still bulky and frustrating and could have been fixed simply by allowing free-aim.
There's a slight color problem where the screen will randomly darken for no reason, but that's only a minor thing.
On the whole though, this is actually a good game. It does play and feel like GTA: Vice City despite being released 4 years later, but worth the get if you can find it cheap and like GTA.
On a 5 rating - I'd give it a playable 3.5
Once I start on the other games, I'll let you know how they go :D

I haven't played the Godfather games, but they were always in my B-grade game list as something to try out some time.
Your FEAR acquisition is not at all bad, though. Me and Corey recently played through that, and FEAR2. Just FYI, if you play the original and decide the series is worthwhile, all the FEAR expansions (Like the ones that come in FEAR Files) were developed by folks not Monolith, and have thus been termed non-canon. I never bothered with 'em.

I do have F.E.A.R 2 and started it, but other games caught my attention. From what I saw it was a Really good FPS. But I'll be honest, I didn't even know about the "expansions" so I only grabbed it because it was there.
And yeah, The Godfather was a B grade one I want to play and just took the oppurtunity. I'm surprised how addictive it is considering it's flaws :D

I have FEAR and all the expansion packs on PC. I'm about halfway through the original game and haven't played it in ages. I think something else came out and distracted me. Good game though.
You know I really wanted to get the Godfather games, but are they worth the money? I mean how's the gameplay?

It plays a lot like Vice City - it has it's annoyances in movement and mostly shooting because of the lack of free-aim. But apart from that, it does play well. It's a big world map, but there's a lot of driving to be done from Little Italy (where you start) to reach the other places like Brooklyn and New Jersey with nothing to do in between but dodge other cars.
If you're like me though, you'll find yourself saying "I'll just extort one more business then finish for the night" and then 10 businesses later you'll release there wasn't just 1 more business.
For a B grade game - it's worth the price, but I would buy it second hand if you can - it's not worth paying full price for it.

The first Godfather is amazing. I loved all the small fun things you could do, like extort businesses and everything. I heard the second one sucked, but I don't really know as I've never played it.
I have F.E.A.R. but I didn't like the physics, so I'm having trouble finding the interest to keep playing it. One of these days, though...

That's how I felt about the Riddick Games. Not great, but pretty damn good and you get two of them for nothing. Fear 2 was pretty good, never played the first one.

You... didn't like Riddick?
Sorry man, I have to ban you from the thread now....
Scratch that, I think I'll ban you from the site :p
How could you not love the Riddick games? I thought they were well done and kept well to the style Riddick is meant to be.

Ha ha, no I liked them, and I do like those movies. I found the gameplay a little tedious after a while. But I will probably pick up a copy some day. I have fond memories of breaking necks and cashing checks :)
I finally got the game. I'm in love with it :) Paid $15 for it and just ordered The Godfather II for the 360 as well for $10 :) I'm at the part where you have to destroy the family compounds. God it's hard. I've got 2 of the 4 done.

I've just done that as well Kino - I actually found them easy except for the Barzini Compound in Midtown. But I'm Don now, so one more step to go.
And that's with the Level 4 Shotgun and Tommy Gun (bought off Xbox Live -.-) and maxed out stats.
Now I'm just cleaning up - exorting the last of the businesses and then I'll be Don of NYC :D
I'm happy with it really. I got 30 hours of play out of it, and it's quite difficult in places. Since I paid $15 on it, I only paid 50c/hour for it, which is fantastic (my method is, I want 1 hour gameplay for every $1 I spend on it)

I played Godfather on PS2 and did not like it that much. I should try it on xbox now. Surely the graphics would at least be better

I remember getting the Godfather game on the original xbox when it first came out, I can say it's the only game i've been compelled to complete to 100% I recently picked up The Godfather 2 on 360 for a good price and I'm quite enjoying it so far, they've stuck to what made the first game great but they've added a few new elements to it aswell.
