Hey there,

I've been messing around with the postbit_legacy template in a child style and wanted to tweak it a bit. So, I came up with this:

Any suggestions? Something you'd like to get changed? Or perhaps you don't like it at all? I'm all for constructive criticism. :)

Yeah I really like that, it looks neater. If that makes sense.

Alright changed to this one. If you encounter some display issues, please clear your browser cache and cookies, and restart your browser. That should fix it.

Very hawt.

As to putting the member information inside darker shaded rectangles, I do not care either way, but did you also change the header above each post? If yes, me like a lot.

Whatever is happening to the username and "header" of each post, it's messy. The idea in the screenshot is better than what's going on right now, but you'd have to fix the location of the avatar. Generally speaking though, I think my favourite is the classic "Username Above Avatar" setup.

Yeah, we experimented quite a bit with the postbit modifications last night, during which I displayed a pickiness that would have made your chest swell with pride. Graeme has been summoned to Tibet to teach those Buddhist monks some advanced tricks regarding patience and understanding, too.

We tried changing the position of the Avatars to where they are now but keeping with the style in the picture, and it didn't quite look right. The left hand side of the bar looked too empty.

I quite like the current style - it's different enough without being so different that it distracts from the content. :)

A lot of nice big words there. Bravo. :D

Yep, only present qualm is that you've centered all the fields in the main postbit (IE. where Join Date, Location, and so on is located), but the name and user title locations just don't fit.

Also the 'report post' and 'add to reputation' buttons, as well as the '[person x] is now online' icon, don't really fit over to the side either, when everything else nearby has been centered. Perhaps aligning them in the free canvas either side of the avatar could work, or just constructing a new 'box' underneath the avatar, though I suspect that would result in the postbit being too tall.

Might be able to kill two birds with one stone by putting 'em in with the Name and User Title, but that would require more thought on which goes where in terms of alignment than I am presently willing to offer.

Not to mention all the black magic you would have to perform.

Well it's eventually up to what the majority prefers I guess. :p

The original intention was to make it like the screenshot - which happened - but we did some modifications to it afterwards; which is what Jason stated above. ;)

However, ideas are always welcome! I'll have a chat with Jason about it a.s.a.p. :)

That remind me: I think those icons too small.

Yeah, the buttons have been a long-term bugbear of mine too. I've tried many times to get better ones, but had little success, either being unable to find suitable ones on sites, or being let down by designers.

Have you tried icon packages scattered on the Internet? Also, have you checked out websites such as AdminExtra, or the graphics section of vbulletin.org?

The only graphics that I've seen that could be considered blend-ish, are the ones from Shelley at vBulletin.org, and Azhria at AdminX. I guess I'll search around as well, and post some that might be of any interest.

I love their work.

The Hazey is a forum that creates customized graphics for anyone with the digital currency (earned by posting). Since I am already active there, I may request for you if I know what you want.

This. It's distracting. Seriously. I can hardly stop looking, even though I know I shouldn't.

... it's like when someone is talking to you, but you can see their nipples through their shirt. God is that distracting.

Konrad

That is very distracting, but I couldn't place my finger on what it was. Fix the nipples.

Okay, -just so I have this straight- If we centre the buttons along the bottom (online marker/rep/report buttons) and centre the username above the postbit, we'll look at it from there?

Sure.

Pardon, nipples?

Lance

What's wrong with nipples... I say we keep em

I'm happy with just centering the username so its above the avatar, that's it for me :D

*thumbs up* I like - thanks for the hard work you put in to this Graeme, it's much appreciated.
