Right, you gents (and lady, vlbarto!) have thrown plenty at me, and I'm grateful for your feedback. Now it's my turn to get my own back.

I'm looking for your feedback on the following idea:

From what little time we've spent together on the forum, it's fairly obvious that you guys are an intelligent and articulate bunch with a good sense of humour, so I figured why not ruin all that by adding a competitive edge to it? :D

What I'm thinking of is pitting a selection of members up against each other in a 'panel' style quiz. Basically, I'd set a few questions that will stir up debate and give you a good opportunity to show off your ability to talk about the gaming industry whilst also being funny and interesting. I'll then score your answers as I see fit, awarding just as many points for an answer that makes me laugh as I will for an answer that actually makes sense (not to mention taking the opportunity to stick the verbal boot in if I think you're talking rubbish. :p) - at the end, the scores are totted up, and the winner gets a pointless trinket of some description.

Thoughts? Good, bad, downright awful? And more importantly, would you be willing to take part?

It might be fun as long as we don't take it to seriously. :-)

So, it'd basically be a debate? I presume you would decide which side teams take, rather than everyone just doing the side they want?

Oh, there's no teams - you'd all be competing against each other. ;) Essentially it is a kind of debate, I guess - you all give your answers to the question - you can be funny, incisive or both if you're capable of such things, and I award points for each answer depending mainly on how much I like it - it's a completely unfair scoring system and I intend to abuse it thoroughly. :p

The main aim is to create some entertainment and get the community interacting even more (although you're doing a good job of that already) rather than having a competitive game, but of course, there's nothing wrong with a little friendly rivalry/abuse... ;)

Heh, do you mean to explain what some of them mean? I have to say, I'm not as down with 'da kidz' as I used to be...

What does leet mean?

So let's say that someone is not funny at all, hypothetically me, should they (because it's only hypothetically me:naughty:) still conisder particpating?

Also, when does it start?

My thinking was I'd ask all the questions in one hit and give the 'competitors' two-three days to do their thing and come up with their answers. I'd then score them and we'd figure out who our winner is.

Of course - there's no obligation to be funny, and factual answers will be scored in the same manner to humorous answers - I'd like to think of it as a perfect balance between intelligent debate and light entertainment - which route the individuals take is down to them. :)

As for when it starts, assuming there's enough interest (which there appears to be), I'll look at drawing up some kind of structure for it tonight and set the questions at some point over the weekend. :)

You're such a simpleton, Konnie. :p

Basically, 3-4 (I'm thinking four, as it gives the most scope for variety) 'contestants' will answer slightly off-beat gaming-related questions I set.
There will be no hard and fast 'right' answers, and instead points will be awarded by me depending basically on how much I liked the individual answer. There's no pressing need to answer the question with a well thought-out and researched answer if that's not your style, as I'll happily award points for an answer that amuses me or makes me laugh.
Points are added up at the end of the questions, and the winner gets a golden statue of themselves (or something of equal or less monetary value).

I guess I was a bit hung up on the fact that this originated with a radio show, and was therefore done live and dynamically.

You silly sausage.

Right, I'll get a few threads created for this. I'll throw it in General Gaming discussion for now, but I think that if this takes off, it might well require its own subforum.
