View Full Version : Playing Team Fortress 2
I have not played TF2 at all, and I am curious if this is the type of game that would work with 2 on 2?
Me and my three buddies like to play together, and I am just curious if it would be any good with so few players.
Thoughts???

I don't really know that game that well, but there are smaller maps which should be perfect for 2vs2, although i can't remember their names.

It would work, but not to it's full potential. The game has a (more or less) delicate class system in place. It has support, offensive and defensive classes, in short: a team.
Since the classes are not balanced against each other for fairness, but for reliance on other team-mates a 2v2 match would probably be one sided unless you all use the same classes. In which case it might be more enjoyable to simply play a classless game designed for small deathmatches.
For example, due to the ease of concentrating fire on in a tiny match - the heavy might dominate and simply pin the entire team.
This isn't to say it might not be fun, and you might have some good times trying to counter each others techniques. But in terms of balance, or how the game was intended to be played - it is not one for such small gettogethers.
Yea, that's what I was afraid of...

I'd recommend having a look round and finding a small, fun server (there are a few out there for TF2, I know because I made a habit of finding them...), and joining that as a foursome. There are some very good TF2 communities out there that are very welcoming of new players, and it'd be a shame if you never played it as it was meant to be, because it really is a fantastically balanced game.

You go Heavy when I'm Sniper and try pinning me down without losing your head ;)
