External HD back up options

Can I back up my saved data, downloaded content and what not on an external Hard Drive?

It appears not, unfortunately. Whilst it is possible to connect almost any external HDD to your Xbox 360 for use as portable storage space for your mp3 collection and so on, you won't be able to use any Xbox 360 data on there (ie save games, marketplace stuff, so on...). However, there is the possibility of transferring your data from one 360 hard drive to another (EG if you wanted to upgrade to a larger HDD) - the details on how to do this are here (http://www.ehow.com/how_5002633_transfer-external-hard-drive-xbox.html). Just be aware that when the operation is complete, it erases the data from your old drive.
