My first game ever was Mariokart 64 and I played it religiously. I also went on to Mariokart double dash, and I've played a few others (GBA and SNES) here and there. MKDD, I found, was the most for racing. Extremely diverse courses that weren't easy to navigate until enough hours were put in. Crazier items and chaos, and more skill required with the sliding to perform mini-boosts.

MK64 is better for battle by far. MKDD battle arenas were too small and finished too quickly and seem more dependent on luck to win. I'll never forget the good old days of Block Fort. Rain fire from above with the red shell!

I need to get MKWii to see how it is. I heard it was pretty good, but I need income!

Yeah, MKWii is pretty good fun. It's as insanely frustrating as ever in race mode, choosing to reward rubbish players and punish good ones (I may snap if I get hit with another blue shell ten yards from the finish line...), but that's part of the charm of Mario Kart, I guess.

I think my favourite is still good old MK64. It was just such good fun to play in either mode, and the tracks were challenging without being overly hard. A good gamer who had never played the game could pick up a controller and still give experienced players of the game a run for their money, and that's what made it so great.

I have a Wii, but I never tried Mario kart. Since it's his platform, my dad really wanted to buy a racing game with that fancy steering wheel, but he ended up buying some Need for Speed game we only played once. :\

MK64 is my favorite as well. But the MKWii is good as well. I don't play it often at all (only when I'm with my kid cousins or my nieces), so the steering wheel thing takes me a couple of races getting used to, but after that, it's pretty fun.

I have to say, it didn't take me too long to get used to it - although I find I tend to do better just holding the Wiimote without the steering wheel. I tend to overcompensate when I use the wheel.

Kalamari Desert, I believe was the track name from MK64. I loved MK64 and that was my favorite track! No one mentioned Mario Kart DS. It has some classic tracks from previous Kart games along with new ones. I really enjoyed it as well.

How's about the rainbow road? Is it better in MKwii than the others? I always thought that one was a bit too long and boring in 64. In double dash it was perfect, one of the most difficult tracks to master, as it should be.

If I remember correctly it's a complete bastard of a track in MKWii, although I've only played it once, so might be getting it confused.
