Anyone play oblivion online? or Oblivion reborn? trying to find out wich one has better features, (Monster sync, mod support of any kind etc) , Saw a video that is childish by concept, but was awesome to see that these guys were playing oblivion online together with mods enabled and everyrthing.

There's an online version of Oblivion? Is it MMORPG style or peer-to-peer, private game co-op stuff?

I have to say, I wasn't aware of the existence of this either - granted, I don't really play Oblivion anyway, but I'd have thought I might have heard of something like this.

I would assume it's a third-party thing, and not run or endorsed by Bethesda since there wasn't any mention of it in their newsletters. That can probably rule out MMORPG because that would take alot of servers XD

It's a third-party modificaton that, I believe, has not made it so far as to really come out of Beta, or perhaps even Alpha. As of whenever last I checked, it requires a host to set up a server which will then allow a client to join via the same third-party software, which will allow for two players within the same world. However, as of when last I checked, no player data is shared--the client character is not the client's character, rather, it's a default NPC model. None of the quests are shared between character, and alot of quests don't work when the main character tries to perform them anyway. I also don't think you're terribly capable of being in separate cells--that is, if one player goes into a house, I think the other needs to follow very closely to avoid certain impending doom.

Can't be terribly sure though. Haven't looked in a while. Or cared. Because as is the way of all third-party multiplayer extensions for games that never natively supported multiplayer (or even intended to), it was never destined to work very well.

I played some Oblivion version, but I hated it.
I hate almost all FPS games. Ye-ye, I know that you can switch cameras and such, bust it still sucked.
Online Obvlion? Lol, no, thank you :D

Cheers!

I've recently reinstalled Oblivion for nostalgias sake seeing as Skyrim isn't far away now, I've never heard of an online mod though. To be honest I don't think I would like an online mod, there would probably be some high level asshole murdering the lower levels for the lols.

I've never known that Oblivion had an online component. Was it actually online or was it more of a LAN? I'm disappointed that Skyrim will only be single player, I was hoping it would be the long awaited Elder Scrolls MMO.

It never had an online component, this was a mod built by the community. One that doesn't really work well, but does well enough to be somewhat bearable. And the TES series has always been about the single player experience anyway, hell it is one of the few games nowdays that actually is dedicated entirely to single player.

But I want an Elder Scrolls MMO. I thought there was one in the works but I could be wrong. There certainly is a big enough universe there to make an MMO work. Plenty of different races, different continents, different mob types. And all the guilds. And there's plenty of fun quests in the single player games that aren't just kill x of y.

I wasn't aware of it either, and when seeing this post had to rush to google to look for it. I loved oblivion, I'm hanging out for skyrim and the idea that you could play with friends would be wonderful.
Unfortunately though, it does sound buggy. Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could multi-player skyrim? :p
