Xbox Live - L4D2 free weekend

That's right folks, Left 4 Dead 2 is going to be free to play online for all Xbox Live silver customers this weekend.

From 5pm GMT on Friday through until 5pm GMT on Sunday, anyone with a Xbox Live silver account will be able to play L4D2 online as if they had a Gold account. You can even bring a friend in via splitscreen.

Good news for many gamers who may not have had a chance to experience L4D2 the way it's meant to be played - with friends.

For once Microsoft appear to be doing something decent that will raise interest in the game and hopefully give a large section of people who would otherwise never get the chance to play the game the way it's meant to be played, and you're bitching because you might have to play with a newb or two...

I mean, I dont mind playing with new people. Its just playing AGAINST them. They get mad and leave. Causing servers to shut down.

they did this before, in november, but it was with every game.
Im not sure how it was (since no one had l4d then...MW2 was all the rage)...But im assuming MW2 games were chaotic.

Come on guys, n00b! We shouldn't use such terms around here, it's ''fanboyist'' and we're no fanboys here in MG.

Just imagine what it'd be like for someone like me (who never played online before) if people started calling them n00bs on the first slip, such aggressiveness would drive the likes of me from online gaming away immediately. Of course, I know that everyone here at MG is above such things!
Anyways, tomorrow I'll rent a copy and give it a try (though, I don't think I'll be able to join in considering my 256kb DSL connection)

I just logged in to with my Xbox Live account and there's no ad for the free weekend, wierd.
When they had the free facebook weekend 2 weeks ago there were ads for it all over Live. They even did it for 1 vs 100!
