With the release of Season 9 coming in the next few months, I thought now might be a decent time to bring up what I would call an awesome series.
For those unaware, Red vs Blue is a machinima made from the Halo series. It started off on pretty simple terms on Halo 1 but, as they grew more popular, Bungie have taken interest in them--allowing greater access to the Halo toolsets which has led to pure awesomeness like this:

And Season 9 is taking it a step further than even that... ah, just watch the trailer on the Rooster Teeth website (http://roosterteeth.com/archive/?id=3016).
So. Anyone else here deeply in love with Red vs Blue?

I've never actually seen it. I seem to be about 5 years behind the rest of the internet when it comes to webseries and so on. I'll check it out when I get home though.
Just you wait though, I've heard about this awesome thing called 'rickrolling'. It's really funny.
Oh, and did you guys know that the cake is a lie?

Hehe. To be honest, I only watched RvB about a month ago--always meant to watch it, but only did once a mate was able to, uh, lend me his DVDs of the series so that I didn't have to bother getting it myself.
It starts off a little shaky (what with it being a few guys playing about) and gets better and better as the series goes on, with the Rooster Teeth guys figuring out their characters, plot and style. There are 8 seasons so far, each season making for 1-2 hours viewing and I can't recommend it enough.
Planning on buying the DVDs myself sometime in the near future... really must get around to that.

Suuuuuure...
Anyway, this is the first RvB ep I've seen and I thought it was pretty entertaining. Not life changing, but enjoyable.

It's a lot better if you know the characters as well as you do by that point in the series (that being a good way into Season 8).
I really can't recommend the series enough, especially once you get into the later seasons and they really get awesome going.

I used to watch this but then for whatever reason stopped. Tried to pick it back up again but actually I had no idea what the hell was going on. So I don't know where they left it.

I need to see about acquiring the DVDs, also.
Always did enjoy a good bit of RvB to pass the time.

Ordered my copies of all eight seasons' DVDs yesterday, as well as the OST for S8. Can't wait to watch them all again when those arrive.

Aye, if you pick up anywhere after from Season 3 onwards and have missed parts you'll be confused as hell.

From what you told me, you're up to Season 5 just after ol' Lavernius has his little abomination. The next season (RvB: Reconstruction) is where they first do animation and it really gets amazing.

In any case, I can't terribly well remember the first 5 seasons, so it'd be worthwhile to just get it all.

Aye, you should likely. The plot only becomes super-critical once you get into Reconstruction (S6), but you definitely miss a lot of character development and awesomeness.
If you were to buy the DVDs for all eight seasons it'll set you back a good $100AU with shipping.

Season 9 has begun and you can watch it here (http://roosterteeth.com/archive/?id=3328) :D
Though, to be fair, it may seem awfully out of place if you haven't seen the rest of it.
