OK, new thread time. So several months ago whilst I was procrastinating my studies, I came across a point and click adventure game called "the white chamber" (no caps intended). In the white chamber you play as a young woman who awakens upon a space station, inside a coffin no less, with no recollection as to how you arrived. Soon you find that something is wrong: the station is abandoned, yet there are no signs of panic or danger; just the eerie hum of the station as it goes about its stationily thing. Yet, you cannot shake the feeling that you are being watched by someone or something; and it soon becomes very clear that nothing is quite what it seems and only by finding the elusive 'white chamber' may you find the key to your memories, your dreams and maybe even your life. The game is a freeware download with the link at the bottom, only took me a couple of hours to complete it but it is a very enjoyable, yet quite disturbing ride with a small download and beautiful art style and atmosphere. Puzzles are straightforward, but clever in their execution and well varied to keep your attention.

Do you know where you are?
Do you regret?
Are you ready?

Kudos, Studio Trophis: http://www.studiotrophis.com/site/projects/thewhitechamber

Does your character move around? or is it more like Myst, with static pictures?

Necrobump for newbies who have not seen this yet.

Also just wondering, did anyone ever actually play it?

I did, a short while after making my post. :]

I thought it was very good. I did get legitimately drawn into the story, I wanted to solve every puzzle, and the general tone and setting were fantastic. The game wasn't too easy, or too hard I thought. A lot of the puzzles weren't obvious immediately, but they were logical (from what I can remember at least).

I had a bit of a problem with the art style. I am neither a fan of the anime-ish character graphics, nor do I think they fit along with the theme of the story. The main character looked like she was plopped down in the wrong genre by another artist.

It was also a bit short, I believe I finished it in one (very enjoyable) sitting. But then again: "When your only problem with something, is that there is not enough of it... That's not really a problem is it?"

I actually agree with you on the artstyle, especially when she is compared to the couple other characters and especially the look of the 'other'. I enjoyed the puzzles too, despite actually breaking the game on my first run through it. I overwrote my only save in an un-winnable situation. And yeah, it is short. At least there are two proper endings to it.

In regards to the artstyle actually, if you look up Tsutomu Nihei's work on Blame! They art style for everything other than white chamber's protagonist fits his work, running the whole future + completely fucked up horror.

Also that scene regarding the gaming console near the freezer was absolute win.
