BF - Bad Company 2 BETA

This is the thread for getting together and storming Alpha/Bravo. The beta will be taking place from Jan28-Feb28 so we have a full month to level up and try some of the unlocks. Throw up your proposed game time and in-game soldier name so we can add each other to our friends list and check it when we login. I will start...

Generally I get on when I can but most of my time is late at night PST (GMT-8)

So far (thanks to buggy programing - thanks dice) I haven't been able to get a single second of gameplay of BBC2. They have released a small client fix, but as most that uses Steam knows: Steam takes their time.

That's odd because my steam beta version works fine once I get into a game. I did have some problems connecting to a server a few times last night. It took me a few tries before it went through. Since then I open the server browser on the bottom right corner of the main menu and select the most populated of 6-7 servers available.

Well, I've got it, downloaded the Beta and I've jut come from about an hour of playing that was brilliant. I even managed to to pretty damn well as a sniper despite 400ms ping.

I've had two issues so far:
1) It hates my wireless keyboard so I've had to set up a wired one to play.
2) It hasn't been registering my stats; at the end of a game I get all 0s except kills, deaths and kdr (4, which is pretty good, I thought).

So, yeah, Rob, I'll hopefully see you online tomorrow and we can jump on a game.

It's not really a biggie. I've seen enough videos now on youtube and having played the first bfbc game, I know for sure I will be getting it. As for the beta not working, I've narrowed it down to being the router and that it needs to have some ports forwarded. Being that i am on a shared net, nothing i can do about it atm.

On the bright side, I'm now working on building up a active bfbc2 team and have already pre-ordered a 32 Slot Ranked bfbc2 server. MG will off course be very welcome guests there.

Good news. The beta runs on my laptop. On minimal settings, but it does work. The one game I managed last night was laggy as hell, but I'm unsure as to whether it was graphics lag or server lag. If I get chance, I'll try again tonight.

Nice. What's your laptop specs?

AMD Turion 64x2 2.0gHz, 2GB RAM, 256MB Nvidia 8400GS (1GB with shared memory), Vista 32, 250GB HDD.

Use the server browser rather than the 'play now' option to find a local server with low ping and try there.

I'll maybe try sometime over the next few days.

What do you mean you weren't getting anything?

Are you going to the multiplayer menu at the top, or the servers thing on the side? You want to be on the top one as the side one is only History and Favourites.
