I've been hung up about this ever since Jason reminded me of the game.
Does anyone here own, or want to buy DEFCON so we can all get together in a nuclear fuckfest?
This game is awesome, and like, totally indie.
I have it. Cool game and I really do suck dick at it too.

If we can round up a few people for this, I'll definitely be up for it. Nothing like an excuse for a bit of backstabbing.
I've just reinstalled it. Does not like W7 at all. Slow as fuck.

Uh oh. I was about to re-buy it along with Tropico, but if it's unplayable on W7 might have to put a hold on that.
I'll investigate further, but I have a top range PC and DEFCON was grinding along at some ridiculously lower FPS.
Also, not sure if this makes any difference but mine is an original copy, not a Steam copy.

It appears from a quick glance at their forums (http://forums.introversion.co.uk/defcon/), it's a known issue, most likely to do with OpenGL. Aside from various graphics drivers (which I doubt there'll be too many of for Win7 just yet), looks like it might be a case of trial and error.
Have you downloaded the 1.42 patch?

Any word on compatibility with W7 yet, Konnie?
I downloaded the latest drivers for my video card and it now works fine.

Superb. I'll grab me a copy of this and we'll try and get some kind of date sorted. So who's up for this (not including Konrad, who I already know is sitting there with his cursor hovering over the button...)?

YEEAAAHH!
I'm just waiting for this weekend's steam sale to pop up in case it's something interesting and Ill be buying this.
I bought it awhile back but I have yet to try it out. Is this the kind of game I can get into without much practice or should I be tearing through it right now?
I love the 65MB install.

You can get on it right away, it's just that you will suck big brown mexican teaspoons. That isn't of course to say that we won't either. :p
I recommend doing a few quick games against the CPU just to get a hang of what is a retarded idea and what isn't. Other than that, none of us are pro either.
I'll be up for being the biggest loser tomorrow.

Tomorrow may be tricky for me. Early next week would be optimum.
However, if everyone else can do tomorrow, I might be able to make it. However, I'd be limited to text-chat only, as I'll be at work.

I'm completely fine with text-chat, it's not like this game goes any faster than a snail's pace and requires fast communication.
I'm down for tomorrow. During the week is going to be a maybe.

Tomorrow looks like a good bet then. Shall we say somewhere around 10pm GMT (5pm EST)?

Sounds good to me. I'm snowed in baby, I got all day.

I just played the tutorial.
I won. This made me feel happy.
Then I watched the rolling demo.
Now I'm scared.

By the way, if anybody wants to make this game earlier - I'm all for it. Of course we'd all have to agree which might be tough, but OH WELL.

Earlier is difficult for me. Later isn't, but AzH may be too drunk to focus if we leave it too late. :p
Ill be online for the next few hours but might have to step away from time to time. I am under the impression that this will play out slow enough that any breaks won't matter. Are we going to team up against the computer or FFA? I like the coop if we can until we all get the hang of the game.
(im scared)

I'm ready whenever. I'm not sure where AzH is, but he's not on Steam, so I'll assume he's busy drinking. :p
We got a couple games in and it was pretty fun. More people would make it even better.

Yeah, that was a giggle. Even though I had my backside well and truly handed to me. Thanks to my naive tactics, About 75 million South Americans are dust right now. :-/

I'd join in but... US$10? Eh. If it comes on sale and you guys are still on it I'll probably take the bait.

I think you should be able to play with us with a demo version as long as we use some really basic rules or something. Not sure about the limitations, but look into it.
Jason

Nah, demo version limits you to 1v1 if I recall correctly.
Jason it looks like you are right about the demo. I grabbed this off the official DEFCON page...
Demo Features and Limitations
You may play the single player Tutorial, and you may play a single player game against one AI opponent. (The full game permits six player games with any of those teams played by AI)
This demo has working multiplayer, over LAN and Internet.
You can set up any multiplayer game, but you can only have a maximum of two players in your game (The full game permits six player games). You may only play the Default game mode.
You can join any multiplayer game, but only if there are no Demo players already playing in that game, and only if the game is using the Default game mode.
In other words, only one Demo user may join any one game at any time.
You may specate any game of any size.
Demo Users may not play any of the advanced Game Modes: Office Mode, Diplomacy, Speed Defcon, Tournament Mode.
You can upgrade the Demo to the Full Game at any time - simply enter your purchased Authentication Key into the Demo Client and it will automatically upgrade. No further download is required.

So I joined Steam (since I wanted to get Deus Ex and replay it :)) and decided to grab DEFCON while I'm at it..... so if you guys need an extra, I'm in.
The more nukes the better. I need to play this game some more so I can get some strategies in order. when we played before my entire plan was to hit defcon one and launches everything the second it was available. Oops
Jason

that was also my plan. Unfortunately for us, while we were busy bombing the crap out of each other (and the Rapebot was nuking me to kingdom come to boot), Konrad was watching and waiting... and laughing.
Konrad

And just when I rose on top, Backdorian snuck in through the Back Door and bombed me to high hell and all the way down to third place.
