The PC's been around for what seems like forever now, and there have been some truly tremendous games released for it over the years. What's the one you love above all others though?

---------------------------

For me, it's got to be Deus Ex. I've harped on about it on here before, and it's just an amazing game - equal parts FPS and RPG, it was arguably the first FPS with a real 'brain'. It had branching paths with multiple endings, difficult decisions to make, some excellent dialogue, and the plot had more twists and turns than an epileptic cobra. It's looking very dated now, but if you can look past the ugly textures, there's a truly magnificent game waiting to be discovered in there.

FALLOUT!

FALLOUT2!

YAY!

I'm pretty sure I've gone on about these games enough though. My opinion remains though... Best games ever.

Hard to say

Civ III/AC: Alien Crossfire would be my picks - I couldn't choose between the 2.

Dues Ex is a great game too, though I never finished it (I think my computer broke when I was playing it through, and then got distracted with other games)
Dues Ex 3 is coming out soon though, so I may have to go back to it in preperation.

Half-Life.

Gameplay and story that were freaking awesome with graphics that were great for the time to boot.

I have several favourite PC games, both old and recent. The ones on my list are Fable: The Lost Chapters, Mass Effect, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I/II: The Sith Lords, Dragon Age: Origins and Dead Space. I really can't choose between 'em.

Fable: The Lost Chapters is truly an awesome game. The first time I played it, I became addicted to it at once. Peter Molyneux damn as hell knew how to develop the game and he has an excellent pool of fantasy. Fable actually reminded me a lot of World of Warcraft setting, if you look at the structure of certain buildings and the such. The thing I enjoyed the most in Fable would be the ability to free-roam a lot, have different relationships, regardless of sexuality and of course, visiting the bordelle!

As for Mass Effect; yet again a game which includes epic storytelling. But what else would you expect from the Gods of Gods, BioWare? I love all of their games. Mass Effect does have a lesser ability to free-roam, but it's very enjoyable and I like the Sci-Fi setting a lot. Not to mention all the abilities you can choose and to see your character progress a lot.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic; pretty much the same story. A godlike game of BioWare that I've completed over one-hundred times, literally. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, so that made things even better. I believe this was one of the first RPGs I have ever played. I don't regret a single second of gametime, without a doubt.

Dragon Age: Origins; yet again, the same story. This is truly the best game BioWare ever developed. The story is epic and the looks are great. I guess some of you have played it and know how much different combinations are possible.

And of course, Dead Space. One of the best Sci-Fi games ever, but not as good as Mass Effect. Well, not much to say about this one.

as of right now, I am loving BC2. Of all time though, Battlefield 2.

I logged too many hours playing that game.

I haven't done much PC gaming, but it's definitely gotta be Operation Flashpoint, the original with its expansions.
Even if I had a PC that could run current-gen games, I'd take OFP over anything.

to be honest, I dont think you would. The fact that on PC it does not have any sort of console functions nor dedicated servers, really takes away from the gameplay. There is no control over who you can or cant join on....no offense but it is a console port for PC which just does not work without the much needed support from the devs.

My whole clan bought it expecting great things (30+ members) and we all stopped playing within days due to the lag and other issues stated above. I am sure the game is great on console because thats what it was built for.

Side note, you could build a decent gaming rig for whatever your budget. Or just make upgrades to your current PC to let you be able to game. Not too hard to do. Any questions let me know.

He's talking about the original OpFlash, not Dragon Rising. :p

ahhhh, ok...makes sense then. I was going to say....Dragon Rising was the worst...the absolute worst.

Starsiege: Tribes.

Only issue with it is that the community is relatively non existent, and the existing community is absolutely atrocious.

Old thread revival.
Be interesting to see what other are currently playing on PC. My vote goes to Fallout 3 & New Vegas, I love the replayability with that blend of FPS & RPG features..

hmm...hard to say. I am going to notch up Starsiege: Tribes, S.T.A.L.K.E.R and IL-2 1946.

It's a close call between Diablo 2 and Guild Wars. I've logged so many hours into each game! I <3 them both so much.

Out of those, S.T.A.L.K.E.R was excellent but a little buggy @ times, clear sky & call of pripyat were ok but the original was the best. :)

Personally I thought COP was the best, it was the most finished at least. The only problem is that I'd played SOC and Clear Sky before and already knew what to expect in the zone. You already know how to deal with bloodsuckers/controllers etc. So the tension of the original was missing. Not SOC was the most memorable, CS was broken (sorta fixed now) and COP was the best IMO.

I stand by my opinion now that I have a decent computer.
Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis with its expansions, is the best game on PC for me.

How many FPS games are marketed as realistic and couldn't be more ridiculous? A one-hit kill with a knife, but a .50 sniper rifle takes two or three shots to kill someone? Getting shot in the face 4 times is fixed by waiting in cover for the screen to turn normal again?
Not in OFP. Getting shot means getting killed, or at the very least having your arms or legs fucked up so you can barely aim or you can only crawl, respectively.
The enemies aren't mindless mooks who all know where you are and have unrealistic precision, nor are all the gunfights taking place in spaces from 5 to 80 meters away between combatants. The enemies use real-life tactics to bring you down once they've spotted you, and they can be escaped; while gunfights have ranges anywhere from room-to-room CQB to 400 meters with standard equipment, and sniping can be done from many hundreds of meters more.

I did find it interesting being killed in the opening 10 seconds of a battle, then watching you AI teammates go on to win without you.
