I'm looking into starting up a gaming tournament, I want it to be pretty big, with different leagues and so on. It's to be held every month, and so far it won't be online. Any advice would be appreciated.
I know I'm being a bit vague but it's ground up, and I'm at the ground level.
Thanks

Try checking out sites like ESL and Clanbase. Might give you some inspiration and ideas.

So is this a LAN tournament you have in mind?

My first piece of advice would be to make sure you have contingency plans for people pulling out - even on small-scale stuff (just one-off games or similar), it's an issue, so on a large-scale tournament, I can really see it becoming a problem if you're not prepared to deal with it.
I assume you'll be charging some kind of entry fee, if only to cover costs, so I'd recommend asking for that up front - people are a lot less likely to 'forget' to turn up if they've already paid their money.

Thanks Jason, and yes Konrad, it'll be LAN and Split Screens. So far in my side of the world the top two games are FIFA 10 and MWF2, MWF2 being the top one. I'm thinking various leagues though, like maybe a mature league and a high school league and such things.
