3 days until Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 comes out, Can't wait. There hasn't been any reviews yet but they are sure to come out soon.

I was really looking forward to it, but now I'm quite sceptical. I'll be waiting until word is out about how IWnet serves the MP and how it all works out...

If it turns out that IWnet is bad, I'll get it just for the single player... I mean, well, it's not like I can get L4D2 instead -_-

I don't really see what the big deal is with the whole dedicated server is. Of course I would be playing this on the 360 and I don't have good enough internet to even be thinking about playing this online but still. It's Call of Duty, it's already broken sales records and it hasn't even been released yet.

This issue for me is that I'm Australian. If they go with dedicated servers I can see there being a multitude of EU and US servers and a severe lack of them in areas like Australia, thus meaning if I wanted to play online I'd have to have several hundred ping.

Just an update on this MW2 had gotten 5 reviews so far all of them giving the game a 100. See the reviews coming in at Metacritic (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/modernwarfare2)

Heh, interestingly enough, I have the game sitting next to me right now. I found that a local supermarket was selling the game for £26 (about $40USD) from midnight, and as I just so happened to be on a night shift tonight, figured I'd get in ahead of the rush. :D

Ugh is all I have to say. And this isn't related to bitterness. No game is worth a 100, it's just not done. Hype hype hype, it clouds minds.

Well, metacritic converts everything to a 100 scale. I believe most of the ratings are just 10/10s.

Which is somewhat more understandable, but I still don't buy the whole "universal acclaim". I'm assuming the rating will drop down as more reviews come out, it's a funny trend that the people who get a review first have a tendency to make it a VERY positive one.

Yeah, that does seem to be the case. It was always going to happen though. GamesRadar I've found are usually pretty close to the mark though, and they gave it 10/10.

In a few hours I guess I'll know, mind.

Another update MW2 is now a 96 on metacritic with 36 reviews. Not quite the highest score for 360 it's 3rd after GTA IV and Bioshock.

Interesting reviews creeping back after a couple of days now - the console versions of CoD:MW2 are both sitting pretty at a 95 average. The PC version is sitting at 89 with a 1.3 user rating. Now I know nerdrage is always an issue with this sort of thing, and the 'no dedicated servers' thing has really put a few noses out of joint, but is this perhaps an indication that what makes an excellent console FPS doesn't necessarily make a good PC FPS?
