Anybody else into this show? I see there a lot of UK folks here, but in the states we really don't get an idea of what shows you guys actually watch. I'm really into peep show, mitchell and Webb look, top gear, and the IT crowd. Anyone else into this stuff?

Not much into cars, but i do like Top Gear for it's pure entertainment value. The rest of the show you mention, I've never heard of.

IT Crowd is one of my many favorite comedies.... I'd say 3rd favorite English comedy behind Black Books (all time GREATEST) and My Hero.

IT Crowd! Woo I found that show on Netflix and watched the first 3 seasons over a couple days. They are supposed to be taping a new season soon I think. Top Gear is great also.

If you're into those sorts of shows, I can highly recommend the following if you can get your hands on them:

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
The Mighty Boosh (a little surreal - you'll either love it or hate it)
Father Ted
Not Going Out

And then there's the classics:

Red Dwarf
the 'Blackadder' series
Absolutely Fabulous

I'm fairly surprised Americans get Peep show (no offence), It's very british in humour, and mocks the repressed middle class. Took me a while to get into it, but love it now.

Jason you missed out Spaced,Big Train and smack the pony in your classics :) I think they are one's to look into if you havent seen them.

I really like spaced, Father Ted, Red Dwarf is a classic for sure. As far as for Americans not getting peep show, well, you're probably not that far off in that thinking. We do have a disparity of the middle class here so that's not really the problem. The issue with British comedy is that you have to actually pay attention to what is being said and what is going on. I find that most Americans have the attention spans of fleas and just can't hang with a show. Some people have difficulty understanding the lingo and the accents too, but not me. To me Peep Show is one of the funniest damn shows I have ever seen. I think my favorite episode might be Jez's magic mushroom party.

Yeah sorry I was generalising greatly, it's what most British people think of Americans that they don't get the british wit. What series are you up to? Just had series 6 here and somehow it's getting funnier! When Mark throws a party and Jez tells him he needs puke points round the flat. That's one to watch out for.

The only good thing to come out of Britain is the classic British comedies.

Monty Python.
Fawlty Towers.
Dads' Army.
Blackadder, as Jason said earlier.

Even less 'classic' things like the Vicar of Dibley are great.

Yeah I've seen all of season 6, the puke points are hilarious. I like when jez is stuck on the balcony below them hiding out from elena's girlfriend and wants mark to throw down a rope. "why would I have rope? I don't own a boat or cattle or anything that would necessitate having rope"

"hey I'm jez how's it hangling?" :)

and no offense taken, wit is a lost art here.
