Steam just opened a public beta of its new UI. To access it go to file/settings and select the UI beta from the drop down box.

All it requires is a quick restart of steam. I like the new look and feel of the UI. I'm sticking with it :)

I was just fiddling with this, actually.

So far, I haven't found anything I don't like about it. A lot of people will like the fact that you can't make the games list as small as you could previously (basically a sidebar), with the closest you can get to that being half the screen, but the only time I'm in the games menu is when I'm about to launch a game, so I like it fullscreen.

And, well, it looks pretty. Rather more modern looking than the previous version.

I was just about to make a thread about this. :]

I like it too, I just wish everything wasn't so large. I found a way to get my games list to be as compact as before, but the store and everything else is still very bulky and scrolling prone.

I haven't had any issue with needing to scroll anywhere I didn't have to previously. The majority of the UI seems a lot less bulky than before, to me.

As for making the games list smaller, what did you do? Even with it in list view with only the names visible it won't shrink horizontally to less than half my screen.

I don't think anything can be done horizontally. My issue was with the verticality of the list however, as the images still took up lots of space in list view. You can turn those off by hitting the plus in the upper right hand corner. Makes it just like the old list minus tiny icons.

Yeah, that I knew. Though, I'm using the default menu with the game's details on the right of the list -- I likes it.
