As you'll probably have picked up on due to the fact we've been anticipating downtime (which due to problems during testing has been put back a couple of days), there are changes afoot here at MG!

Whilst there are a few details still to be ironed out, here's a summary of what you can be expecting once the changes are implemented:

An upgrade in software - we're making the leap to vBulletin 4! Whilst it won't be a massive change for frontend users, there will be one or two minor changes in functionality. Some new features will be added, one or two might disappear until we can find a way to port them across to the new software - we'll keep you informed as and when we find out what these will be.
A new look - to complement the new software, we'll be sporting some shiny new threads to go with it - final details are still being confirmed, but so far it looks very nice indeed. ;)
A front page/portal system - you'll be able to keep up to date with the latest here at MG all from our frontpage, which will give you at-a-glance updates on all the latest news here at MG.
Plus, to celebrate our new look, there's going to be a couple of awesome competitions, as well as an exclusive interview with a leading games developer. ;)

Whilst we are still in the testing phase (which is taking place independently of these forums), we're hoping that we're past the majority of problems and that the rest should be falling into place fairly quickly. Barring any unexpected hiccups, I'm hoping to have this completed by next weekend - I'll keep you updated as and when things develop. :)

I noticed that after I posted, was about to change it, and then thought "nah, I quite enjoy the pun".

Hehe. I enjoyed it immensely in my painkiller induced mood :)

Now that I can say things without ruining the concision (cool, that's a word) of my post: yay. I've been looking forward to seeing one of the forums I frequent make the jump to vB4, I quite want to see how it handles. Shiny new upholstery is also good -- perhaps the bottom corners won't have the old green colour pattern still on them :p

Plus, to celebrate our new look, there's going to be a couple of awesome competitions, as well as an exclusive interview with a leading games developer.

Does that mean you're running a competition for someone to give the interview with the developer? ;)

Haha, I'm not, but that would be a cool prize. :p

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the upgrade has been put back a week or so - it's not a technical issue (fortunately! :p), we're just making sure that when we do upgrade, the transition is as seamless as possible, and that we're ready to go straight 'out of the box'.

Once again, if anything changes, you guys will be the first to know. :)
