Finally, a Transformers game that won't suck. I think they've done the right thing by basing this one on Cybertron, solely because of scale issues. The games based on Earth tend to suffer (I think) because scale of buildings/humans etc. But since this takes place on a planet with nothing smaller, it's easier to get the scale right and from the looks of gameplay it should be good.

That VideoGame Blog (http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/2010/02/27/transformers-at-war-intense-gameplay-footage-surfaces/) has a video with actual gameplay on it.

I hope this one is good, I am always wary of Transformers games. There's so much potential there and so many horrible games. I felt that way about Batman though and Arkham Asylum is one of the most enjoyable game experiences I have ever had. Good that it's not based on a movie, the live action movies are god awful

I'm hoping so too JBO. I grew up with G1 Transformers (Had a LOT of the toys lol) but the movies/games tend to let the franchise down.

This one seems it might break the trend though. The fact it's starting at the very beginning is a bonus, and there's no pesky humans to worry about trampling (not that I ever did worry)

And the screen shots of Optimus just look fantastic.

Things are looking bright indeed. They've also announced Sideswipe, Thundercracker and Jetfire as the latest additions.

Have to say, Sideswipe and AirRaid look the best so far for the Autobots, and Brawl for the Decepticons.

See all the characters here (http://www.transformersgame.com/#/game/characters)

This is quickly becoming a 'must-have' for me if the gameplay stands up to the graphics and hype :)

I really think this might be a good one from what I've seen. Till all are one.

Lance mentioned this over here (http://www.mature-gamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15195), and it occurred to me to inquire about it. One of my mate's keeps going on about it, 'cause he's a bastard and wants me to get it so he can steal it off me, and I'm undecided on the matter.

'Cause, for starters, every other Transformers (or game based off a movie, for that matter... or vice-versa) has sucked a pretty decent amount. I hear War for Cybertron breaks the pattern, but I'm going to need more convincing than that.

So, anyone got it or played it?

My best friends both bought a copy and I have played through most of the campaigns. they are pretty good. I wish there was a real cover system, but I feel that it handles a lot like a third person Unreal Tournament. I give it a 4 out of 5. There is a TON of game in it when you include both campaigns which are surprisingly lengthy. I have yet to experience the multiplayer other than the original demo, but that wasn't bad. For me it's a rent, but for many it will be a definite buy. They get most of the G1 fanboy stuff right. The transforming sound isn't right though.

I grew up a big Transformers fan as a kid. The Michael Bay movies are a travesty to the franchise although I can somewhat stomach the first one. So, naturally after watching trailers for this game and reading reviews, I had to have it. I did go out and buy it and I'm glad I did. Still not done with it, but the game is worth paying the money for. The storyline is long and satisfying. It is very detailed and sometimes it can be difficult to tell an enemy from the environment being on Cybertron and all. Still, I've really enjoyed it and I like the idea behind some of the co-op modes such as Escalation. The only thing that I did not like was the fact that they did not provide local co-op. I felt like that would have really made it a top shelf game. My wife and I love to play co-op games and the mechanics for this are right up our alleys being 3rd person and all. I have the PS3 version and the game is beautiful graphics wise. Truly a great game for fans of the old cartoons.

See, I'm loving it but so far I feel it's a bit short. Granted I'm only up to Chapter 3 of the Deception campaign, but it feels like they're trying to cram a LOT of story in to a short space and it just feels to run through quite quickly.

But that's my only problem with it - and it's not that much of a problem to be honest. I still think it's a fantastic game, and its fun to see the Transformers as they were before earth.

As for the transforming sound 'not quite right' - I choose to believe that the sound would be different on Cybertron because it's a different type of atmosphere than Earth (that's my reasoning, and I'm sticking with it :p)

The look and feel of the game as a whole is fantastic though. A worthy Transformers game finally! :D

Ha ha! I was talking with my friend about this sort of thing the other day, where you have to come up with rationale for the continuity errors in movies and games. Like how you have to either watch a cut of Highlander 2 that makes LESS sense, or watch it with a bunch of alien stuff that also makes no sense. Either way you watch it you have to ignore that it happened for any of the other movies to have any continuity at all.

Well, I started on the autobot campaign and it's been lengthy enough for me I think. I imagine running through the entire storyline coupled with the multiplayer factor overall makes it a worthy game.
