Please tell me this is a general PSN problem that will be fixed in a minute. "trophy error code 2147416817"
I was worried that it was just me,but then I saw a lot of post on another site saying this is worldwide.
For those of us who don't know what I'm talking about, my PS3 cannot play any games! I get an error message and the game will not start. At First I thought it was just Killzone 2, I saw where another gamer got the same message (a year ago), but took the game out and put it back in and it worked, but not this time.
Hopefully this will be cleared up soon. I also read where someone with a slim has no problems.
If you're having this problem Jason, you should be even more pissed since you just got Heavy Rain :)
Anyway, hope it's VERY temporary. :upset:

Have you tried signing out of the PSN and playing games?
EDIT: done a little searching, and this seems to be primarily related to Killzone, although no-one seems to know exactly what causes it. Some have reported that exchanging the disc may solve the problem, others have suggested a change of profile might sort it - one thing that does seem to be is that it often happens shortly after a PSN outage, and I don't know about you, but I lost the PSN for a few hours the other night.

Nothing works Jason, It's all over the internet by now, thousands are experiencing it, I guess not you though :)

I'm away from the PS3 at the moment, but can't check it. When I get home in about 6 hours' time, I'll give it a try and let you know what the score is.

Six hours away from Hard Rain, must be painful :) Hope everything is well when you get there. What time is it in the UK?

I got some weird trophy-related error when I tried playing MW2 and it wouldn't let me in the game. I turned off the PS3 and tried again with success. It could be unrelated. On another note, I had a PSN game, Pixeljunk Eden, go rogue on me by telling me it was a demo??? Spooky stuff going on here! I turned the PS3 off for a while after that!

Well it's not unrelated if it happened today. All of your issues is exactly what's happening to gamers all over the world right now. You purchase a PSN game, the full version and it reverts to a demo! When did this happen Nilihanth?

Some info for you. (http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/28/playstation-network-down-so-are-lots-of-ps3s/)
Sony are apparently "looking in to it"
In the mean time, you can always go buy a 360 :)

Or a PC, if you're really cool.

Another update from That Videogame Blog:
A few Twitter updates from Sony: “We’re narrowing down the issue and continue to work to restore service to all. Updates as soon as we have them” and “Readers/followers are confirming that “slim” units (120/250 GB models) are connecting normally.”
Or a PC, won't argue with you there MNDF :)

Buy a 360...........real funny. Actually, I'm a game collector, I have almost every console since the Atari 2600. So I actually have 3 Xbox 360s, doesn't help though, one can't replace the other. I was almost at the end of Killzone 2 when this happened, unfortunate, hope Sony Irons this crap out, I might be a collector but I don't have a slim, personally I am a bit against that kind of crap, I think It's an insult to the consumer, making the same console over and over with extra bells and whistles but it's basically the same damn console, don't do that! Lots of people who buy these consoles are kids or broke! They can't afford to be buying the same fucking console twice. Get it right the first time! Like Microsoft and their "elite", "core" and "Arcade" boxes, get the thing right from the get go, that "red ring of death" is just pathetic......or evil.
And thanks for the info people, I found all that out shortly after I created the thread. Funny thing is, I spoke to someone with a "fat" model and he was happily playing Fifa 10 at the time.
I saw some news about the PS3 issues on Sunday and was hoping it was an isolated problem. I just turned on my ps3 a few minutes ago and was unable to log into PSN or launch 7 of my 8 games saved on my hard drive. There seems to be separate error codes for games requiring online access (Warhawk - EC 80029516) vs games that do not (Pixeljunk Shooter - EC 8001050F). The same error code for some offline games (EC 8001050F) is the game code that I am getting when trying to sign onto PSN. The only game I could launch was Mega Man 9 and the demo for Heavy Rain, oh the irony :). I have PSN/PSPminis, PS1, and full PS3 titles saved to the HDD. What confuses me about this whole issue is that I can only access one game. Why would the error restrict some software from launching while allowing other titles to function without issue?
I'm going back to sleep and hopefully by tomorrow night they will have fixed this problem or else... i'll just wait longer :)

What kills me is this is a residual problem. You cannot play games even offline. I can't play Assassin's Creed 2 even when signed out of PSN. I suppose that people who never or rarely connect to PSN wouldn't have the problem since they would have never had a trophy syncing problem to begin with.
Did Kotaku post an entry about this? Either I'm blind or they haven't posted anything about it, which would be odd.

3 Xbox 360s
Might I ask why you have three?

You'd be correct Nilihanth - my brother-in-law doesn't have his PS3 connected to the 'net in anyway and he's had no problems playing anything today.

Well, the main reason being system link coop, it's a huge issue for me, I speak about it through my host on my TV show all the time. Online play is theoretically a good thing, but then the assholes, yes the trash talking, whining, racist assholes ruin it, them and "softcore" gamers who start up a coop campaign and quit on a whim. I could go on forever. Anyway, nothing like going LAN with a friend or two, at least you know what he/she is about, prepare some food, refreshments, shut the basement door and it's good times for hours on end!
And I've also had that red ring thing with two consoles already, so back ups would be the second reason.
As for the PSN problem, well it's not just slims or fats or online or off, I've been reading rants since yesterday, everyone is feeling it, no, I really haven't heard of any slims having the issue, but I have a friend with a fat one who's still gaming. We'll just have to wait it out and hope when it's over our saved data is still in tact......maybe I should go check now............

This is indeed an odd one - I managed to log into Little Big Planet just fine this morning, whereas my brother in the next room was unable to even get onto the PSN on his PS3. We both have 'fat' PS3s - his is a 40GB, mine is a 80GB.
It's frustrating as hell, but I guess it's just one of those things - an unforeseeable error that is beyond the control of Sony. And let's be honest, it's not like they charge any extra for the PSN.

The official line from Sony:
As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.
We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.
Errors include: * The date of the PS3 system may be re-set to Jan 1, 2000.
* When the user tries to sign-in to the PlayStation Network, the following message appears on the screen; "An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PlayStation Network (8001050F)".
* When the user tries to launch a game, the following error message appears on the screen and the trophy data may disappear; "Failed to install trophies. Please exit your game."
* When the user tries to set the time and date of the system via the Internet, the following message appears on the screen; "The current date and time could not be obtained. (8001050F)"
* Users are not able to playback certain rental video downloaded from the PlayStation Store before the expiration date.
We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.
As mentioned above, Please be advised that the new slim PS3 is not affected with this error. We are doing our best to resolve the issue and do apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Reports are that the bug has now been squashed, and that the bugged units are starting to return to normal. Fingers crossed no-one's lost any data!

Sony has said that a millennium-style bug that prevented thousands of PlayStation 3 owners from using its online games network has been resolved.
The firm said that the fault had been caused by machines that had "recognised the year 2010 as a leap year".

It must be fixed, I am able to sign on now. And setting the clock via the internet worked.

So far so good, no data damage

Wayne, just put the image URL inside a pair of tags.
Say, if I wanted to post this picture of Australia upside down in the North Atlantic: http://www.satirewire.com/news/jan02/images/australia.gif, I would put:

Now, it's not working there because I magic'd it. It'll show as:
