Well, as we all know, Ubisoft have been running through a gauntlet of abuse and rotten fruit of late, in the build-up to the release of their new and controversial always-online DRM. Silent Hunter 5, released March 2nd, has apparently been cracked. Kotaku has the article, but they can't confirm that the crack is genuine as, well, they can't publicly pirate a game a talk about it.
The pirated versions, apparently, require only that the user installs the game and copies replaces the .exe with the cracked .exe -- meaning that to stop the DRM, all you need to do is not install the Ubisoft launcher and block any connection to the internet that the game tried to make.
Honestly, that sounds like a massive hole that Ubisoft have missed if it's true. If they have indeed missed as big a back door as that then they deserve to have their DRM cracked.
