The PS Move motion controller is Sony's answer to the Nintendo's Wiimote and Microsoft's Natal. Like the Wiimote, the Move is made up of a smart controller and a separate dumb controller, but that is where there similarities end. The Move uses better technology to more precisely track the movement of the controller in a 3D space. It uses rechargeable batteries and communicates with the PS3 using the PSEye camera that is already on the market.

So far the games that have been demoed are not very impressive but that can be expected from early builds of any game. What I'm more concerned with is the tech in the controller and the potential is has to be used in full featured titles. Unfortunately that is probably a long time off considering the hardware isn't even complete. Also because the Move will be not be included with every PS3 system then it will be hard to get a big budget developer to make full use of the Move. To add even more confusion not every game will use both controllers and may use different combinations of the smart/dumb setup.

If I had to rate my interest in these movement tracking controllers that are all the rage right now then I would go with PSMove > MSNatal > Wiimote. I hope Sony and MS can get the software right because that's what is going to make or break these controllers. The Wiimote looks and has the specs of a toy but is a huge success because of all the software behind it. It seems to me that Sony and MS are pouring to much time into the tech and to late in the game. I think they should have took the next few years to perfect this tech and then put it into their next console release.

The PS Move is supposed to be released during the 2010 holidays but no pricing has been set. Here is the official release (http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2010/03/10/introducing-playstation-move/) and a more in depth review by engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/11/playstation-move-everything-you-ever-wanted-to-know/?s=t5).

I think it's all down to luck to be quite honest. If a big developer decides that they're going to support it and create a proper game that utilises the functionality of this controller (Heavy Rain showed what can be done with unorthodox controls and would probably work better with something like this than it would with a pad), it could very well take off. If they just release a crapload of half-assed 'party' games, expect this to die very quickly.

the games I saw weren't very interesting at all. Sure that can be expected from new tech. but as far as your average consumer is concerned this is no longer new tech. They have seen the wii, they have felt motion control. It won't matter to the average person, or to me frankly, that the graphics are better and the response time is more accurate. The reality is that Playstation has treaded water here. It's going to be an additional 200 dollars?! Crazy, you can get a whole wii system practically for that.

Some interesting news - Gran Turismo 5 has been confirmed as being Move-compatible. Could this be why GT5 has been pushed back to October? It's certainly possible.

GT5? Move? If they put these together in the retail release this could go very well for Sony.

Well it's always great when new stuff comes for consoles. Even tho I don't have ps3. But I'll get natal for my xbox 360 ;)

I don't think anyone did :D But it's great that it's possible. Little moving around never hurt anyone :P
