What type of shooter games do you prefer?
1st person where you see through the eyes of the person you're controlling, e.g. Halo, COD, Golden Eye, etc.
3rd person where you see a camera view of the person you're controlling, e.g. Metal Gear, GTA, Uncharted, etc.

I don't think it's a fair comparison - both types have their merits, and provide completely different game play. I tend to be drawn more towards third person games however, I find them to be more immersive.

Regular 1st person shooters. They do not have the whole 'Arcade' feel about them, which is why i prefer it. However, games like Max Payne and GTA IV, wouldn't been the same in 1st person.

Ergh - it's a difficult one, as there have been so many good FPS games compared to TPS games. I like the fact that TPS games give the developers more scope to do something interesting with the environment and actually use it rather than just shoot things in it, but I find that the actual gunplay tends to suffer.
Red Faction really didn't help itself with the switch to third-person. Ok, so there were bigger problems with the game than just the camera angle, but I felt the sense of destruction was lost somewhat when you aren't looking at it through the eyes of the person that caused it.
Interesting to see that the latest installment in the Call of Duty games has a third person option now for some game modes...
EDIT: 100th post! :D
