Here's a transcript of a Q&A posted on the official Battlefield blog (http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/battlefield_bad_company/archive/2010/03/15/battlefield-bad-company-2-q-amp-a.aspx) today regarding some of the more common issues players have come across:

We have had a lot of questions about Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on all platforms about the issues some have had. Here we will answer some of the more common questions, some will help you get in game, others will give an insight to what we are working on.

This Q&A isn't a definitive list by any means and we are aware of and are working on more than these issues:

Connection issues to EA servers

EA Online has been adding more capacity to handle the high number of player connections to EA servers. This is an ongoing process but we currently have enough capacity to handle all BFBC2 connections.

Manually install PunkBuster on PC

If you are getting an error that Punkbuster hasn't installed correctly for reasons such as Windows admin permissions not allowing Punkbuster to be installed, then go to www.evenbalance.com and download PBSetup.exe. When prompted, point PBSetup at your BFBC2 install directory and then check for updates. A PC restart maybe needed once this is done for Windows to pick up Punkbusters location.

PunkBuster kicks with the following error message : « punkbuster kicked player 'PLAYER NAME' (for 0 minutes) ... RESTRICTION: Service Communication. »

This is a Windows Vista/Windows 7 permissions issue that affects all Punkbuster games. To solve this issue download and run PBSVC from http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe

When clicking on a server to join, nothing happens.

This is fixed in a patch going out on PC today.

Server Browser bugged: All the following browser issues are things the team is currently working on improving.

Too slow This is caused by the current browser system. - A new system is being developed by the BFBC2 PC team to improve the server browser

Displaying inaccurate number of players connected on game servers - This is caused by the difference in server status between when the refresh was initiated and when the results display.

No ping displayed - This is caused by Windows admin privileges. To view ping in the server browser run BFBC2.exe with administrator privileges.

High pings even on local game servers. We're actually showing game latency instead of ping.

This is basically how far behind the client is compared to the server. We try to keep the server a small portion in front of the clients so they in most cases can use replicated data until they get the next ghost update from the server. If they get a lag spike they will start predicting the state when they run out of information, however, the basic idea is to smooth out the experience compared to everything having to be corrected when the predictions are slightly off.

After being disconnected, some people got their stats temporary reset.

The team is investigating this issue, we have no solution at this point. Please report any stat loss here: http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-bad-company-2-pc/961412-do-you-get-missing-stats.html

When people try to reconnect to their profile, the game asks for the serial number again

This has been fixed on the entitlement side hence no patch is needed. A really small number of people got affected by this.

360 accounts will be “reset” this weekend?

This is a rumour

Some players have had trouble redeeming their VIP codes

This should have cleared up now, the in game store on PS3 for Europe and Asia is coming soon.

Whilst it's irritating in the extreme to see so many major bugs in what is primarily an online game, particularly the dreaded 'not enough servers', it's good to know that at least they're doing something about it, and perhaps even more importantly, they're keeping gamers informed - not many companies seem to realise - if you just tell us what's happening and what you're doing and make it look like you're doing something to fix it, gamers are willing to put up with quite a lot. Yes, there will always be a percentage of angry nerd rage, but that's life - some gamers are too used to getting what they want when they want it.

Speeding up the server browser? THANK GOD :D

It's good to see they're getting onto all the bugs that have been discovered. Though, seriously, I wish I could gather together all the online game developers in a room and force them to look at the Source server browser (like in CS:S) and see how damn good it is.

Heartwarming. Like you said, the sole fact that they're letting us know makes everything that much better. Biggest highlight is probably the new server browser indeed... As long as they do a live refresh ill be satisfied really.

It's nice to see how exactly opposite a stance and attitude EA is taking from Activision.

I wrote a long email to EA this morning about all the issues I'm having with the game. It looks like almost everything was addressed in that list. I hope whatever they do to the server browser includes a few new filter options for hardcore and friendly fire.

Very true, I hate popping in a hardcore server when I feel like having a relaxing game.
Also location... There needs to be a way to report location.

I just hope they sort the connection issue with the PS3 version - it can take me ten to fifteen minutes to get into a game sometimes.

Oh, and in a non-technical problem, the issue of spawncamping needs to be sorted. It's getting annoying.

I've only been spawn-camped once when our team got completely overwhelmed. But it's probably just a matter of luck. What makes me more bitter is grenade launchers, I can't overstate how incomprehensible it is to me that somebody thought "1-hit kill exploding bullets" is a good idea.

On that note, patch released today:

522175 is merely a re-packaging of the datafiles from 522174. Therefore, version 522175 reports itself as 522175 in the auto-patcher, but does still say "522174" in the game's splash screen.

Eh, I don't have too much of a problem with those actually. Mainly because on the consoles, all everyone seems to play is Recon class. Whilst it's a pain in the ass getting headshot within three seconds of spawning, it also means that if you get your hands on a tank in a wide-open area you're going to rack up a lot of points.

I don't see the 40MMGLs as a problem. If they weren't able to 1-hit-kill they'd be uselessly underpowered.

Konrad

I wish they just didn't have them at all really. :\

Then assault would be a pretty gay class :p

Hardcore has no aiming reticule with the grenade launcher which makes it take considerably more skill to kill with. I haven't played a non-hardcore match in awhile so you will have to remind me if normal games have reticules or not.

There is, yeah. Either way, though, I find the GL to be a weapon I fire by feel rather than sight.
