April video game sales and no imagination of gloomy.The money generated from overall game sales in the US during April has been estimated at a whopping $1bn.

This figure from The NPD Group includes sales of hardware, accessories, new and used physical games at retail, rentals, digital downloads, add-on content, subscriptions, mobile games and social network titles.

It�s the first time the entire US games market has been taken into account during a single month. Previously, the data only included sales of boxed product.Prototype 2 was the best-selling game in the US last month, and boxed sales made up $630.4m.

(So I apologize if you've already dabbled in this-- I performed a quick search in the forums but didn't find a hit.)

After procrastinating for several months, I finally picked up the Metagame card deck at PAX East. And I've been a dope for not immediately jumping all over it back in its early stages.

If you haven't seen the deck, the Metagame works on random comparison principles similar to Apples to Apples. Here's a more detailed explanation.

So if you've suffered through my links, here's my modest proposal: Each week, I'd fish out a random set of comparisons. I'd then take blurry and poorly framed photos of the cards and post them for discussion.

The set comes with a bunch of rule variants that deal with elimination, adjudication, etc., but frankly, I find the discourse these cards provoke to be their real value. I'm less interested in the "win" scenarios of the rules-- its the discussion itself that's the real enjoyment.

All that said, here are three sample pulls from the deck. These are unedited comparisons.. I simply shuffled and pulled (but did not pull from the expansion pack).

if you pre-order the game via Steam...you receive the original Torchlight for free. if you pre-order the game from Perfect World, you will receive a beta key later for Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter, an action RPG/MMO set 100 years after the original Neverwinter Nights games.

[Beta-Released] World of Warcraft Mists of Panderia

World of Warcraft's 4th Expansion, Mists of Pandaria has been released for Beta. Players that were specially invited are able to download a Beta copy of this new upcoming edition for World of Warcraft and play it. But you also may acquire a level 85 pre-made character before you start playing. This is a test realm so extra boons are especially included to make sure you experience it all. From level 85 you can expect to raise your cap all the way to 90.

If you were invited to the beta, be sure to download the special Beta content completely from Battle.net, there has been much rumors that it is not completely stabled for even being in the beta session. Its about 20GB to download, so be prepared for an entire day sucking up all the internet bandwidth.

There are a few new features that I noticed in the new expansion.

The Character Creation has completely changed, making it easier to customize your looks and everything.
When you start out as a New Panda you are neutral, neither horde or alliance, what you do at the starting area will effect which part you will side with.
Monk classes seems really reasonable and adds a new flavor to the game mechanics.

Remember that this is in BETA! The game will not be stabled until its official release. Bugs, and errors are expected.
How do I get the invitation?
A lot of people has partake that pre-release of Diablo 3 and signed a wavier for playing World of Warcraft for a year. As doing so, it will guarantee you a spot in the Beta for Mists of Pandaria.
